  1. Who's AVGN? I don't know who you're talking about. All I know is Zilla is not based off of Godzilla. Zilla is based off of Jurassic Park.

  2. What Cinemassacre said was true. Zilla is a weak pathetic monster. I bet Zilla is as strong as if not weaker than Ebera, the lobster.

  3. fuck no tristar failed they made godzilla a fucking t-rex so toho was so disappointed so toho bright big g back in 1999 and legendary pictures is going to make a american reboot and this american reboot will be the real american godzilla movie!!!! godzilla forever!!!!

  4. will lets hope the 2014 film will not be a failure if like to check info about this movie, its productions will start in march 14 2013 and that's after my birthday

  5. They were so angry with it that the very next year they went ahead and made Godzilla 2000. and had them reboot the series again after a 10 year break. They refer to the american version as Zilla, and the only appearance he ever makes in the Japanese versions is in Godzilla final wars where he gets spanked and killed by the real Godzilla. That is how much of a disappointment the 1998 american film was to Toho.

  6. Once you've gotten over the fact that zilla is a rip off of Godzilla, the movie is kind of entertaining. It's not high-class entertainment it's popcorn entertainment.

  7. The predicted film for 1997, sadly, was canceled and replaced with Roland Emmerich's film.  Had the original American Godzilla movie stayed on production, it would have been a film that, though featuring a dinosaur-like Godzilla with wildly different origins from before, would have had great dialogue, and a Godzilla that was at least as powerful, if not more so, than usual, armed with a deadly Plasma Breath and far more resistant to conventional weapons than usual.  Had that movie been released instead, it would have shown G-Fans that different can be good.  Thanks to Emmerich, G-Fans are now afraid of different, and have cyber-bullied me for promoting different, because they think that different=Emmerich, which it usually doesn't.  Curse that Emmerich.

  8. In hindsight, those toho guys must be cringing when watching this video, thinking they were looking forward to the 1998 Godzilla.

  9. Godzilla is not just huge in Japan. He's an Epic GLOBAL pop culture icon that will live on in our hearts, and those of future generations.

  10. The reporter is an Asian covering an international story out of asia. A common practice. Put crudely, " They give the colored people all the colored people jobs".

  11. 1998 movie was already announced. the fans were probably pissed because they say here to be released in 1997 and it came in 1998 and the movie was also bad now i understand a little bit more why so much hate but i like zilla

  12. Hmm, Tristar… I bet they'll turn out a good Godzilla movie.

That is as long as they don't do anything foolish like turning Godzilla into an asexually reproducing water iguana that runs away from the military. But hey, no one would ever be dumb enough to do something like that.

  13. The original plan was to kill off Godzilla in this movie, let the TriStar films run for a few years, and then start making Godzilla films again in 2005. Of course, the 1998 film failed, and Toho was forced to bring Godzilla out of retirement six years early and make Godzilla 2000 (remember it was released in Japan in 1999). But imagine if Emmerich and Devlin hadn't fucked it up. Toho might still be making Godzilla films today!

  14. They re talking about Jan de Bont directing the American Godzilla that would have been production but thanks to Tristar for not accepting his budget he went away and brought Emmerich and Devlin to ruined the franchise. Toho, Im sorry about they ruin your repetition and blew you re creation. I wish they revive Godzilla vs The Gryphon

  15. I love that CNN is talking about this movie, but what the hell do the Americans care if they never looked at the movies before this?

  16. Godzilla movies are the best but the American version of Godzilla was the best that stars Aaron Taylor Johnson from Kick Ass but in Godzilla vs Destroyah (1995) they should add an American actor name Val Kilmer he should star in this movie!

  17. What gets me is that even after showing this film on the News, people still think they're just cheap movies of a guy in a cheesy suit knocking down cardboard boxes. I don't know much about American TV but I'm guessing that CNN is a pretty popular channel.

  18. Annnnnd all the Japanese fans that wanted to see Tristars attempt were incredibly disappointed

  19. Tristar makes "Godzilla": Rights are stripped from Tristar, Godzilla brought out of retirement before the planned 50th Anniversary film, Godzilla vs Zilla fight in Final wars was the shortest Godzilla fight of all time and now Legendary and Toho have Godzilla series started. So in the end, thanks for giving us Zilla Tristar! Without you, we wouldn't be where we are today!

  20. Kinda disappointed that this wasn't a faked news report about Godzilla attacking to sponsor the new Godzilla film

  21. Why would you want to see the American Godzilla movie over the one that has two fucking Godzillas and a giant monster that’s literally supposed to represent Satan?

  22. To quote James Rolfe from Godzillathon "I remember hearing about this on the news. And this was in the USA, so who do we care? These movies weren't being released here, anyway."

  23. Americas suck at naming things
"Godzilla vs The Destroyer" really? Dumbest Monster name ever we all know it's

    DESTROYAH

  24. I like how here and in the English dub, Destroyah is referred to as "the Destroyer." I understand they officially named him "Destroyah" for trademark purposes (you can't own the word "Destroyer"), but to me "Destroyer" always sounded much more impressive.

  25. 2:51 And it was so bad that Toho said "Nope get up you nuclear boy we're gonna do more until God is put back in the name"

  26. After 1998, I’m pretty sure the people of Japan have come to despise the number “1998” and the names “Tristar” and “Roland Emmerich.”
