[REBECCA DOES TRAFFIC] Happening today…The N-T-S-B will be in Portland investigating a deadlrty plane crash,News Channel 5’s Dan Kennedy is live from the Portlant Municipal Airport.. Dan….howrt many people were on board? This was a small plane and we know of at least two people on board..One person who was killed on scene and a second victim who was rushed to a Nashville hospital. Portland police were on the scene investigating last night,rt and the FAA and NTSB have been notified. They have blocked off a large area around the crash.Portland Police Chief Anthony Heavner says the small plane was on the way to the portland municipal airport around 8 last night when it started experiencing problems and crashed.Portland Police Chief Anthony Heavner: “Struck a tree along the roadwayrt……lo cal Nashville hospital.The F-A-A says the plane was a Grumman American AA-1B aircraft.Again, one person was killed, and another was life flighted to a Nashville hospital.At this point, we don’t have any addtional information on the people on board, or where the plane was coming from.Reporting live in Portland, DKNC5. rt rtrtrtrtrtrtrtrtrt Two people are hurt after a shooting in north Nashville.rt Police tell us it happened at 23-rd and Osage Street.Several people called police after hearing gunshots. While officers investigated…they were told one victim rtshowed up to General Hospital, and one victim showed up to Vanderbilt. Both are expected to be okay. Police still working to figure out who shot them. rt A gunman is on the run after opening fire on a busy Nashville interstate!The shooting led to a crash that caused massive trafficrt problems on I-40.Metro Police say this all started at around five at the Wendy’s on Jefferson Street.Two men got into some kind of argument. They got in their cars rt- and one of them shot at the other, causing him to crash.Officers are now searching for the gunman who was in a white Altima. If you know anything….call Metro Police.rt Metro police believe they’ve identified the victim in yesterday’s deadly train crash. Officers say he’s a 25- year-old frortm Hermitage… and that his death was an accident. He was reportedly walking on the railroad crossing Stones River. The conductor triertd to stop but it was too late. Officers are waiting to release his name so they can notify the family. A thief not rtonly steals from a church, but steals the church’s trailer used to help victims of disasters.Someone took the trailer sometime rt between Sunday night and Monday morning…from Excell Baptist Church in Clarksville. Keep your eyes peeled for it… the box trailer is white with rt the name of the church on both sides. Inside was a generator, ladders, chainsaws, rtpower saws, and a number of other tools used to help with disaster relief here in Middle Tennessee. rt Tennessee gets more people trained to help in Texas.Last night….the Nashville-area Red Cross hosted a volunteer training class for those interested in disaster rt
response work. The class was full….and so are the two additional classes scheduled this week. If any more open up, we’ll let you know.
