international LGBT news headlines from Pinksixty.
A Human Rights Watch report has highlighted
the abuses that Tunisian police inflict on
men arrested for being gay.
The group has called for an investigation
into the claims of torture, beatings
and enforced anal examinations.
A transgender Jewish woman has been jailed
this week for refusing to attend military
service in Israel, out of a conscientious
objection.
Aiden Katri thinks she may be declared insane
by military psychologists and refuses to participate
in the oppression of Israeli Arabs.
Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon
has unveiled sweeping reforms to tackle LGBT discrimination.
They include recognition of non-binary gendered
people and students will learn about healthy
relationships alongside anti-bullying measures.
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College
of Psychiatrists has issued a statement declaring
their support for marriage equality.
They claim that institutionalised discrimination
increases vulnerability to mental illness
and psychological distress.
And finally, The Big Bang Theory star Jim
Parsons is in talks to star in and produce
the movie ‘Man-Witch’.
Parsons’ character develops magical powers,
resulting in him being sent to a school for
witches, surrounded by little girls in-training.
